Juvenile Court Judge Mark Cope, Department S 203

Judge Cope graduated from Brigham Young University Law School in 1983. He worked as a law clerk for the San Diego County District Attorneys Office and then was hired at a law firm in Las Vegas.

He served as a Riverside Deputy District Attorney from 1986 to 1990. From 1990 to 1991 he was a prosecutor in Clark County Nevada and was a partner with the law firm of Bell & Davidson in Nevada Las Vegas.

After a brief stint there, he returned to the Riverside County District Attorneys Office in 1991 where he stayed there until 1995 when he was appointed by Govenor Pete Wilson as a Riverside County Municipal Court Judge. He was elevated to the Riverside Superior Court when the court unified both the Municipal and Superior Courts.

The year following his appointment to the bench, he faced a contested election against a Riverside Court Commissioner and won. the Southwest Justice Center Juvenile Court is a satellite court, meaning that there is currently only one juvenile court at that location that handles delinquency cases.

The Southwest Justice Center is located in Murrieta, California. The Juvenile Courts handles cases involving allegations of delinquency by children. The Riverside Public Defenders Office handle many of the juvenile court cases.
